China would be prepared to

the provision to the Hong Kong

Customs Department of available

details concerning junks and

their cargoes coming from the

Treaty Ports and also inland

water steam vessels;

the retention of Chinese native

status by Chinese goods shipped

via Hong Kong to non-Treaty Ports;

the payment of Chinese customs duties

and transit fees on goods destined

for non-Treaty Ports before

departure from Hong Kong;

co-operation with Hong Kong to stop

the smuggling into Hong Kong of

opium and Chinese liquor;

the grant of permission to Hong Kong

steamers to participate in the

inland water navigation privileges;

allow Hong Kong merchants to liquidate

in Hong Kong the duty payable on

foreign imports for China.
